Wind Tunnel Testing

AIT Solutions in-house team works closely with project engineers and developers to enhance the reliability and cost effectiveness of the structural design thereby ensuring occupant comfort, façade design optimization, and improving pedestrian comfort.

The wind tunnel test is carried out in the atmospheric boundary layer wind tunnel, jointly built by Thammasat University (TU) and Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) at Thammasat University, Thailand. The working section is 2.5 m wide and 2.5 m high with 23 m long.

The scope that AIT Solutions carries out for its partner & client as part of wind tunnel testing, include:

  • Development of the wind tunnel models: The physical models that are developed include; Force Balance Model, Pressure Model for target building, and Proximity Model for the surrounding buildings.
  • Conduct laboratory tests: The tests that are carried out include; Structural Load Test, Cladding Pressure Test, and Environmental Wind Test.
  • Wind Climate Study and Analysis of Test Data: AIT Solutions team carries out the wind climate study with several statistical analyses. This analysis will be done together with the historical wind speed information obtained from the local weather stations and roughness changes experienced by the wind passing by the proximity buildings.
