AIT Solutions and Structural Engineering Dept. (STE), Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) contributed to the technical discourse at NATCON 2026, organized by the Association of Consulting Civil Engineers (India) on 23–24 July 2026.
Mr. Thaung Htut Aung, Executive Director, AIT Solutions, AIT delivered a keynote on:
“Advancing Tall Building Design: Performance-Based Seismic Design and Wind Tunnel Testing”
The presentation discussed advanced analytical and experimental approaches for evaluating the performance of tall buildings under earthquake- and wind-induced demands. The keynote highlighted nonlinear structural analysis, performance objectives, response evaluation, acceptance criteria, and the application of performance-based seismic design to complex tall-building systems including the role of boundary-layer wind tunnel testing in determining wind pressures, structural loads, dynamic response, occupant comfort, and façade design requirements.
Dr. Chaitanya Krishna, Assistant Professor, FCEE – Structural Engineering, delivered a keynote on:
“Assessment to Action: Advancing Seismic Safety of Low-Rise Buildings in Developing Countries”
The presentation addressed the seismic vulnerability of low-rise building stocks in developing countries and emphasized the transition from structural assessment to practical solutions to problems. The keynote highlighted advanced seismic simulation tools, field data driven assessment procedures, cost effective measurement technology for buildings, and proposed sociotechnical retrofitting solutions.
