Conducting wind tunnel studies assist architects and engineers to analyze and verify the reliability of structural performance while also achieving cost effectiveness.

In February 2014, Sy^2+Associates, Inc. engaged the services of AIT Consulting (AITC), to carry out wind tunnel testing for a high-rise residential condominium, 128 Nivel Hills, located in Cebu, Philippines.

The project, a first major development of Diamond Hiland Inc., consists of two towers, 37 and 45 stories, resting on a common podium of 4 floors with a construction floor area of approximately 116,700 sqm. The two towers consist of 560 apartments, a niche retail component, and quality amenities including numerous pools, roof top gardens, a gymnasium, and events spaces.

Dr. Pennung Warnitchai, Earthquake Engineering Expert and Associate Professor, Structural Engineering, School of Engineering and Technology, AIT, and Dr. Punchet Thammarak, Lecturer, School of Engineering and Technology, AIT, will conduct the wind tunnel test together with the structural system development and design of 128 Nivel Hills. The scope of work includes: overall wind load study for structural design of two high-rise towers, pressure measurement for cladding design of two high rise towers and a 9-story tower, and pedestrian comfort study.
