15-17 June 2018, Singapore

A three-day seminar workshop on Analysis and Design of Tall Buildings was organized by the Philippines Institute of Civil Engineers Singapore Chapter in collaboration with the Association of Structural Engineers of the Philippines (ASEP) on 15-17 June 2018 in Singapore.

ASEP invited AIT Structural Engineering expert Dr. Naveed Anwar, Executive Director, AIT Solutions and his team of senior structural engineers to conduct the seminar workshop. During the session, he presented key topics including Progression of structural design approaches, Dynamic response of tall buildings, Importance of section capacity and ductility in structural performance, and Wind effects on buildings and structures and wind tunnel model tests. Engr. Thaung Htut Aung, Head of Civil and Structural Engineering Unit and Engr. Shabir Talpur, Manager, Civil & Structural Engineering Unit also presented on PBD, design consideration in structural performance and provided hands on training on ETABS 2016.

A series of seminars and workshops has been organized by AIT Solutions in collaboration with other organizations on significant dimensions related to tall buildings in various countries to enhance the capabilities of structural engineers. Dr. Naveed and his team of engineers have also carried out Performance-based Design of more than 100 buildings, mostly in the Philippines, a country prone to earthquake. They are also currently developing a software app based on machine learning and artificial intelligence that will support quick design decision system for structures.
