AIT is pleased to announce the launch of a new executive-style, professional Master’s degree in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Delivered in partnership with CSR Asia, this new degree, taught in intensive modules designed for working professionals, is the first of its kind in Asia.
The first of the eight modules, Environmental Management and Climate Change is to be delivered 2-5 September 2011. The second module, Value Chain Risk Management, will be held 28-31 October and the third module, Community Investment and Development is scheduled for 25-28 November. Each of these modules can also be taken as ‘stand-alone’ courses.
The degree will provide participants with professional competencies and skills in the fields of sustainable development and CSR. It is designed to help build the capacity necessary to ensure that the business sector is better prepared to manage global sustainability challenges responsibly and contribute to the achievement of targets such as the Millennium Development Goals in a dynamic, competitive business environment. The program is a timely initiative that will help meet the capacity gap within firms and other organizations to deliver on CSR programs that meet business needs for long-term competitiveness whilst contributing to sustainable development in the Asia Pacific region.
The professional MCSR degree comprises eight intensive four-day taught modules, an action research based project and a special study project. The modules are designed in a way that allows them to be taken in any order to offer maximum flexibility to busy working professionals. All modules can also be taken as individual training courses in their own right. Participants can complete their studies and earn a Master’s degree in CSR in as little as one year or over the course of up to three years. Each module will be delivered at least once per year and the schedule will be made available one year in advance to facilitate planning. The “fly-in, fly-out” structure of the modules offers a high degree of flexibility to suit the realities of balancing a Master’s degree with a demanding job.
The degree will target managers employed in the private sector but will also consider applications from those in government and civil society organizations who are interested in developing their skills in CSR. The executive style of the program makes it accessible to professionals from across Asia-Pacific. Participants will benefit from interacting with their peers from other countries and sectors, sharing skills and experiences.
The following topics will be covered in the eight taught modules:
- Environmental Management and Climate Change
- Value Chain Risk Management
