This year, the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) through AIT Solutions has collaborated with different institutions to organize a series of seminars and workshops focusing on tall building design to equip the structural engineering professionals and students an in-depth understanding on the trends and advancements for structural performance.

In November, a One-day International Seminar and Workshop on Design of Tall Buildings was held at Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET) organized by the Department of Civil Engineering, MUET and AIT Solutions.

Two experts from both institutions presented during the seminar. Dr. Naveed Anwar, Executive Director, AIT Solutions gave four lectures including: Progression of Structural Design Approaches; Performance-based Design: Concepts and Applications; Dynamic Response of Tall Buildings; and Importance of Ductility in Structural Response.

Dr. Syed Naveed Raza Shah, Chairman of Civil Engineering, MUET, SZAB Campus, Khaipur focused on two topics: Structural Performance of Cold-formed Steel Storage Rack Boltless Connections and Fire Resistance Requirements and Design of Tall Steel Buildings.

The event was well-attended and was covered by several press media. Dawn Newspaper in Pakistan posted an article in their website.
