Mr. Than Myint, one of the leading engineers from Myanmar has passed away on 3 August2015. Mr. Than Myint was a retired Deputy Chief Engineer of Myanmar Railways and former president of Myanmar Engineering Society. He served as Chairman of Committee for Quality Control of High-rise Building Projects (CQHP) and also Chairman of Assessment Committee of Myanmar Engineering Council. He also led The Myanmar National Building Code (MNBC) Development Project. His contributions as one of the pioneers in establishing and strengthening ACECOMS would always be remembered.
Mr. Than Myint was dedicated to the advancement of the profession, and advised governments, universities, and research institutions on the development of engineering. His dedication and loyalty towards his profession were inspirational. It is a huge loss for the region. Those who worked with him are grateful for the privilege of knowing and serving with him. He certainly contributed much and enriched the lives and workplaces of many. He will be remembered particularly for his efforts in improving the infrastructure of Myanmar. His sad demise is an irreparable loss to everyone.
