H.E. Mr. Kiatchai Sophastienphong, Vice Minister for Finance visited the Asian Institute of Technology together with Mr. Craig Wilson, Legal Adviser to the Vice Minister, Mr. Michael Markels, Advisor to the Vice Minister, and Ms. Sirilakkana Klinbua, Assistant to the Vice Minister for Finance to explore potential collaboration in the areas of robotics, machine vision and learning, agriculture, and post-disaster assessment.

Dr. Naveed Anwar, Executive Director of AIT Solutions welcomed the Vice Minister and his team and introduced them to AIT colleagues. They visited Prof. Manukid Parnichkun robotics lab as the Vice Minister is interested on rehabilitation/ assistive technology. During the meeting, Dr. Matthew Dailey, Department Head of ICT shared information about Face Verification System; Mr. A.R. Subbiah, Director, RIMES Program Unit discussed about Rapid Post-Disaster Assessment for Fast Disbursement of Insurance Claim, and Mr. Ashim Neupane, Business Development, AIT Solutions, presented Solutions for Proposed Agriculture Estate. Mr. Markels was keen to learn about AIT satellite campus in Vietnam as it could be a model for regional educational hub in other countries like Myanmar. He was also interested to collaborate on providing training for people who have lost their jobs due to automation or other industry dynamics. This was the second meeting between Ministry of Finance and AIT Solutions as the latter visited the Ministry to present some innovative solutions in technology last October. Several meeting and initiatives were undertaken as a follow up to the visit.
