ONE DAY INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR: RECENT TRENDS AND ADVANCEMENTS IN ANALYSIS AND DESIGN OF TALL BUILDINGS

Venue: Peradeniya, Sri Lanka
Date: Saturday, 9 December 2017
In Collaboration with University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka

ABOUT THE EVENT

With recent advances in computing and modeling tools, and with growing challenges in terms of structural complexities, the structural engineers nowadays need to equip themselves with various advanced skills in terms of adopting state-of-the-art nonlinear analysis procedures and latest computer modeling software. In this one-day seminar, our experts will discuss latest structural design philosophies and provide an account of recent developments and trends in the modeling, analysis and performance evaluation of high-rise buildings. Based on practical experience obtained from the detailed structural analysis and design of a large number of high-rise buildings, experts will also share some important insights into the nonlinear and dynamic behavior of buildings and will provide useful recommendations for an effective design and enhanced structural performance against wind and earthquake loads.

THEMES

  • New Developments and Approaches in Tall Building Design
  • Understanding Structural Behavior, Dynamic Response and Importance of Ductility
  • Advanced Modeling and Analysis of Tall Buildings for Earthquakes and Strong Winds
