PMTB is a flexible learning approach combining online and in-class aspects of learning. The program is designed keeping in view the recent dominance of tall building projects and the need for engineers to be equipped with better tools and skill sets to design safer structures. The focus of the program includes advanced knowledge on state of the art methodologies, techniques, and tools that can be applied in structural design of tall buildings. Developing your design and leadership skills to formulate innovative systems and solutions, on the job learning wherein the student can benefit from experiential learning by doing a variety of assignments, aligned with the students’ existing professional commitments. The program is directed towards practicing engineers with a minimum of three years’ relevant experience. it will also provide opportunity to do project work at a leading structural engineering/infrastructure company in South East Asia as well as in-class sessions conducted by professionals from leading structural engineering companies. PMTB is offered by Civil and Infrastructure Engineering (CIE) Department, School of Engineering and Technology. The online course content will be delivered through the e-learning platform in the form of: video, audio, image, slides, apps, links. Further teaching support will also be provided through: video conferencing, instant messaging, email, and file sharing. The in-class component of the program will provide the student a one-on-one interactions platform with faculty as well as industry experts. The in-class sessions will also include seminar on special topics to be delivered by invited experts, lab visits, and examinations.

Admission Requirements

For admission in Professional Master in Structural Design of Tall Buildings, all applicants required to have:

Bachelors and/ or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
Minimum three years’ experience as practicing engineer.
English proficiency score (TOEFL IBT: 80, TOEFL CBT: 213, IELTS: 6.0).

Admission Fee: USD 800

Tuition Fee: USD 500 per credit (total program Tuition Fee: USD 15,800) + 5000 thb

Note: The students pay only for the enrolled credits in a given semester.

Frequently Asked Questions 

1) How much is the total course fee for the degree completion?
The total course fee is 15,800 USD (500 USD per credit) for the complete 30 credits PM-TB program. In addition to the mentioned fee the applicant need to pay one time registration fee of 800 USD. On a case-to-case basis we may also consider fellowships for the applicants which they can avail in their last semester.

2) Are the enrolled participants in PM-TB required to visit AIT?

Yes, the participants need to come to AIT campus once a semester for the courses they had enrolled. At AIT campus the participants will have one-on-one interaction with faculty as well as industry experts. The in-class sessions at AIT campus will also include seminar on special topics to be delivered by invited experts. The in-class sessions will also include the final exams that the participants needs to undertake for the enrolled courses.

3) What is the set-up of the online classroom instruction? e.g. by skype or any online communications device.
The PM-TB program will offered through AIT Share (AIT online knowledge platform).

4) What is the lecture time flexibility?
For the online component for each course, the participants can access the course materials (audio, video, presentations, apps, links, etc.) anytime by login to AIT Share. For the in-class sessions with faculty the participants needs to be at AIT campus at the end of each semester.

5) How can the enrolled participants raise questions during the course?
In the online component of the courses, the participants will be able to raise question through chat on selected hours every day/ every week.

6) How many units should the enrolled participants take per semester?
The participants can enroll for a minimum of 3 credits to a maximum of 9 credits per semester. Though we advise that the participants evaluate the time based on the credits for each course and then enroll.

7) Do the enrolled participants need to take an aptitude test? If yes, when will the examination for applicants for PM-TB January Semester & August Semester conducted?
Yes, there will be an aptitude test. We are now accepting applications for January 2025 semester. The aptitude test will be conducted for the January 2025 semester in December 2024.

8) Are there any English language proficiency requirements?

Yes, AIT has English language proficiency requirements. The applicants needs to submit English proficiency Score (TOEFL IBT: 80; TOEFL CBT: 213; IELTS: 6.0):

An applicant can also give the AIT Online English Entry Test by registering on https://languages.ait.ac.th/online-eet/ in case the mentioned English proficiency Score is not yet available.
