Building Information Modeling (BIM) is one of the most efficient tools that the Engineering and Construction Industry can use to turn data into value by involving the generation and management of digital representations of physical and functional characteristics of a project through its life cycle.

The Computers and Structures, Inc. (CSi), the pioneering leader in software tools for structural and earthquake engineering, has funded the construction and operation of BIM Lab under AIT Solutions at Asian Institute of Technology.

The objectives of CSi BIM lab are: To advance the application of BIM in various aspects of building design, construction, management and operation; To carry out research and development for platforms and application of BIM; To support the development of tools that will be integrated into the CSi software and platform; To provide training environment for professionals and industry interested in BIM applications; and To carryout projects and services related to BIM applications.

Dr. Sumet Supprasert, Team Lead for Building Information Modeling (BIM) at AIT Solutions and his team of engineers have started research and development of the following topics: Drone-based scanned building; Image processing for structural health monitoring; The uses of Industry Foundation Class (IFC) format of BIM models; and 3D programing library for developing BIM applications.

A workshop on Building Information Modeling (BIM) is being organized by AIT Solutions in collaboration with TEAM Group on 27 – 29 November 2019 from 09:00 AM – 05:00 PM at the AIT Conference Center. Please read related news, Join Building Information Modeling (BIM) Workshop for further details.
