Abstract: 

The purpose of this workshop/presentation is to enlighten the participants about the most current and applied information available on Construction Industry and Environmental Issues: Alternative and Solutions involving minimum cement usage and maximizing natural, industrial and agricultural recyclable materials in green construction. The presentation will include salient technical, energy related, environmental, and economical advantages of using those materials in everyday construction applications.The workshop would be of interest to those associated with construction industry, including design and materials engineers; architects; engineering technicians; engineers working in governmental agencies and consulting firms; engineering faculty and students; as well as ready-mixed concrete producers, concrete product manufacturers, and contractors. It will also provide significant help to people from utilities and other industries producing recyclable materials. Knowledgeable Professor engaged in using these materials will present state-of-the-art information.

Brief Bio:

Professor Dr. Jahangir Mirza has over 35 years of Applied Research and Development (R&D) as well as teaching experience. He has expertise in Advanced Sustainable Construction Materials covering Civil Engineering, Environmental Sciences and Engineering, Chemistry, Earth Sciences, Geology, Architecture departments, among others. He is a Senior Scientist at Research Institute of Hydro-Québec (IREQ), Montreal, Canada and a Visiting Research Professor in Environmental Engineering Program at the School of Engineering, University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada.
